Artist statement: I have always been interested in moving objects. I also became interested in the shape, design and contours of moving objects. As my interest in this subject increased, I realized the pleasure and enjoyment that people would gain to see moving objects having artistic and functional components to enhance the shape, contours and motion of those objects. In an effort to enhance the sense of touch regarding these objects and their visual stimulation, I concentrated on developing and sharpening that juxtaposition in my art work.

The concept of art work with moving parts became most enjoyable in the process of developing and diversifying art with actual physical objects. The intention of the movements has been to provide both visual stimulation and satisfaction of the feel while operating with hands by giving enjoyment to my work. That enjoyment and touch developed into the theme of my art work and that process became a resource of my artistic creativity and practical ingenuity.
About the work:
Title: Grove

Art form: 3-D

Medium: brass, walnut, sterling silver

Year created: Work not created yet

Description of work: this work is composed of five sections. As representative parts of a grove, I chose five elements; a pole, a tree, reeds, a trunk, and a stump. The marvel, compared to an egg, starts rolling from the nest on top of a high pole. It goes into a tree and role over through its branches and passes in the middle of reeds. It falls into an empty trunk and roll again toward stump. After running through the annual line in a stump, the marbles are gathered final place. According to this story line every section was named a pole, a tree, reeds, a trunk, and a stump. These five sections are composed of one group of work “a Grove.”

Work statement: I imagined a motion an egg is rolling in a grove from its nest to somewhere. I decided to express an exploration of eggs using marvels instead of wheel for this work. Due to using marvels it makes them possible those were hard to express with wheel rail. For example to make up various rail structure, to adjust speed of moving part with angle, and to compose of sections of diverse feature became available.
First of all, the distinguished characteristic of this work is division of section. Dividing section made possible not only to represent for unique character of elements in grove but also to add new idea of section whenever I want to. That means this work, “Grove,” is not completed yet, it can be evolved any time through add, subtract or replacement of sections.
