Work statement: 1) 3d rendering of classic graffiti style in holloware. Using 2d imagery and transforming it to a 3d medium allowing for participation by the public to complete a juxtaposition by altering private work as opposed to artists altering public property. I view this as an ever evolving and changing canvas that will reflect and document the community surrounding it. Full circle, traditional 2d imagery sculpted to 3d form with final 2d applications. Or 2) a work that represents, as the title suggests, that first ideas when brought to reality may become non functional or distant from their original intent. However, through further investigation are found to be useful in their finished state for an alternate purpose. This sculpture will serve to represent this and remind us to remain malleable, improvisational, adaptable, and accepting of unintended results as we reappropriate ideas. Just because it can't leave the ground doesn't mean it isn't fly. |
