Artist statement: ACTIVESITE seeks to provide a catalyst for collaboration between the Art, Business, and Development communities of Grand Rapids; as a way of creating unique exhibition and promotional opportunities.
About the work:
Title: ACTIVESITE artspace

Art form: 2-D, 3-D, Film / Video, Sound, Internet / Interactive, Performance

Medium: site-specific mixed-media interactive experiential art event

Year created: Work not created yet

Description of work: ACTIVESITE Artspace, will be a collaborative, interactive and experiential art event. It will include video projections, ice sculptures, music, food and drink, interactive graphic design, live t-shirt printing and much more.

The concept presented in the 3-D rendering will be reconfigured and built specifically to fit a space and will include--multitiered exhibition and gathering spaces, video walls, bar and DJ booth, coffee bar, as well as areas for seating.

We are also developing a schedule of activities/events which we'd like to host during the 16 days of ArtPrize--including such things as: artist talks, panel discussions, ice sculpture demonstration, fashion show, live music, and perhaps even a non-denominational gathering.

ACTIVESITE Artspace, we believe, will create a unique ART experience for all who visit the space.

Work statement: 4 June 2009--an idea surfaced that the ArtPrize project could be the space itself.....

ACTIVESITE Artspace inverts the usual art experience, instead focusing attention on the social interaction generated by the space itself. Sculpture equals walls, performance equals environment, art equals experience... you.
