Artist bio: The eagle shown is the work that is entered in the Art Prize contest.
Artist and drummer since the age of 5, my mother taught me how to draw ships, cats and people. I began to draw things like Star Wars, the band Kiss, and cars. I once drew a ram for a year book contest for a school I went to and won first place.
My deer drawing that is shown here is one of three deer drawings, the other two were a swamp buck and a mule deer, I entered them in a Michigan graphic arts contest in 1986 and won first place.
I had hundreds of drawings from the age of 5 to 18 and they were all destroyed in a fire. That dicouraged me from drawing for a long time.
Since my mother passed away 4 years ago, I've had a new outlook on drawing and have been wanting to draw everything I have ever thought about drawing in the past.
I am a father of 5 and have been married for almost 12 years. I am in hopes that this contest will bring me and my family great things.
Artist statement: Art is in the eye of the beholder, much like beauty, it is a personal choice and opinion. The world of art can bring out many emotions and open many doors to ideas. A drawing is merely alot of lines but placed just right, they become an illusion, and in the abstinance of lines becomes light.
