Artist bio: Andrea Misch is from Whitehall, Michigan. She create dolls that are often mistaken for real babies. They could quite possibly be the most realistic dolls in the world. They look and feel real as they are made of silicone. She also have a series of figurine realistic babies in creative poses. On a flight home from Florida, one of her babies caught the eye of everyone on the plane. In response to that, the pilot came out during the flight just to see my doll. After landing there were 30 airport staff and security personel waiting for their chance to see and hold this rival child. Experiences like this happen often when these pieces of art are carried out in public.
She has won several awards including the DOTY award for 2009 through the "Doll Reader" magazine. Her work has appeared in many magazines including "Doll Reader", a UK magazine "Hello Dolly," "Ladies Home Journal," "Good Housekeeping," and others. She is also known for her work through "Ashton Drake Galleries."
Artist statement: For as long as Andrea Misch can remember she has sketched baby faces on paper. She made her first sale when the doodles in the margins of her algebra homework grabbed the attention of a classmate, who happily commissioned Andrea to sketch a portrait. Other requests soon followed, and a passion led into a career for this gifted artist.

Andrea is now living her dream. She believes that the true artist is God, who creates the originals, and that through His grace, she is allowed to make replicas of His perfect little lambs.
About the work:
Title: Silicone replica series of dolls

Art form: 3-D

Medium: sculpted and casted into silicone

Year created: 2009

Description of work: This is a series of silicone baby and child dolls that rival real life. They are some of the most realistic dolls in the world. They are sculpted by the artist and then molded and casted into silicone. The silicone has realistic glass eyes, and the hair is rooted into the head with baby soft hair one strand at a time. The bodies are hand sewn with a skin colored fabric and is weighted and padded to feel like a real baby's body. The silicone is painted with many thin layers of a specialized paint. Since virtually nothing bonds to silicone, the paint is formulated to stretch and bend without cracking or peeling. This will allow for people to be able to play around with the doll.

Work statement: The most realistic dolls on the planet! They are sure to fool you into thinking they are real!
