Sandi is a wife, mother, artist, and photographer. A native of West Michigan, she has worked for many years in private, corporate, and not-for-profit settings and has been a frequent contributor to the local cultural and arts scene. Her photos have appeared in the Berlin-based periodical, Balkon und Garten, in promotional materials for musicians and designers, and in websites, advertising and collateral for corporate clients.
Artist statement: To transform common things into statements of purpose and beauty. My images celebrate form, energy, history and the passion of daily life and work in process.

About the work:
Title: ex nihilo

Art form: 2-D

Medium: Photography

Year created: 2009

Description of work: Series of photographs. 4 to 9 to be displayed in a grid formation. Images posted here are of past work. See last image on page - proposed piece.

Work statement: This piece is a departure for me... A non image... a single photograph divided into nine panels, printed on glass. Each of the nine panels represents a blank canvas and is unique. In this age of visual over stimulation we are constantly bombarded with images - this series offers the viewer a place to cleanse their visual palate and space to reflect on their part in the creative process.

As this is a piece about our collective part in the creative process I think it is fitting to thank the people that helped me create this piece - they helped make my idea a reality.
Thank you to - Bob Hefferan, Jill Childs, Kelly Fawcett, John, Paul at Modern Hardware, and to Erv and Pat Naber. This piece would not have been possible without your help. Thank you to each of you for your contribution.
